171 Westdale Rd, Mapua (off the Coastal Highway)
(03) 540 2985
Entry $25 ($5 for non tangueros to watch), Dinner $30 extra
Always our favourite welcome milonga we head back to the Playhouse for the 8th year in a row. Reacquaint yourself with old friends and dance the night away on the opening night of the 7th Summer Tango in Nelson weekend. Located in a beautiful parklike setting overlooking the Waimea Estuary, The Playhouse has been home to many a fine tango event and lends itself perfectly for our theme of Aladdin’s Arabia!
Dining from 6pm, dancing from 8pm. Dinner will be a buffet with shared tables with all your tanguero friends. The perfect way to meet new people for this great weekend of dancing. Contact Nic at the Playhouse directly on (03) 540 2985 so he knows you are coming. When booking mention you are with Summer Tango. Please let me know if you definitely require transport, we have a few locals who have room in their cars!
PLEASE NOTE: There is no mobile coverage at the Playhouse. Once I am there at 6pm, I am unreachable.

Saturday 9 March Midday - 4pm
cnr Bridge & Tasman Sts
Wet weather option, Trafalgar St Hall, Trafalgar St opposite Trailways by the bridge
Theme: A Splash of Colour
Come and try out our huge portable dance floor, built by one of our very own tangueros, Bill, which will be set up right in the middle of the Victorian Queens Gardens under the massive Palm Tree. Rugs will be placed on the grass for you to lounge around on and there are a few picnic tables and chairs scattered around also. Viva la Vaca, Nelson's very own Argentinean Food Cart will see selling absolutely mouth watering lunches , so garb a choripan, steak or a vegetable meal and relax in this beautiful garden. There are plenty of trees to get shade from our hot Nelson sun, but don’t forget to bring lots of water if its hot, wear a hat and slap on some sun screen. If it's raining head to the Trafalgar St Hall on Trafalgar St, opposite Trailways near the bridge.

Saturday 9 March 7.30pm - midnight
107 Nile Street
Entry $45 (includes dessert)
Theme: Masked Ball
With a lovely indoor-outdoor flow you will enjoy dancing at the new Masonic Hall. It has arguably the best dance floor in Nelson and has been host to a few of our regular monthly milongas and the famous Christmas Milonga!
Head out to dinner first in Nelson at one of our great cafes or restaurants and then come to the milonga for your dessert! My favourites for dinner are La Gourmandise on Hardy St (French), Nicola’s Cantina on Church St (Spanish), Babagato in Morrison Square (Italian), The Indian Cafe on Collingwood St. You will probably need to book for all!
Dress up and wear those flash shoes. Nibbles, sweet treats and soft drinks will be available through the evening and you can BYO as well.

Sunday 9 March 1pm-5pm
FELLWORTH HOUSE MILONGA
193 Milton Road, The Wood, Nelson
For many tangueros this venue is one of their favourites. Nestled under the summit of the Centre of New Zealand, on a sun soaked, tree clad hillside overlooking Nelson city and the harbour, Tasman Bay and sun set drenched distant mountains, this elegant Victorian Italianate house hosts our farewell afternoon milonga. Please bring a plate to share if you think you may be peckish! BYO alcohol or special drink, soft drinks and water provided. Think Doris Day and Rock Hudson when you choose your outfit!
Here’s a map Please park in the road or in the little carpark provided at the bottom of the driveway on the left. There is also a little bush walk up to the house - see if you can find it!
AFTER PARTY/WIND DOWN 5.30 until you get tired.
THE FREEHOUSE, 95 Collingwood St (opposite the Indian Cafe)

Directly after the Fellworth House Milonga, if you have time before your flights ... come and have a very relaxed beer and a dance outside or inside depending on the weather. Practice shoes advised. Off-site takeaways allowed and there is also a food cart on site.
